Belmond Khwai River Lodge – Moremi Game Reserve

Animal magic meets old-world indulgence – between fig trees and vibrant floodplains, be ideally positioned to see the big game of Moremi Game Reserve.

Belmond Khwai River Lodge holds a special place in Botswana’s history. Opened in 1971 by Harry Selby, it was one of the first lodges to promote safaris with a conservation ethos. Its proximity to the Delta floodplains also led Selby to build the ‘bridge over the river Khwai’. Today this serves as the famous North Gate entrance into the Reserve

The inviting tented rooms at Belmond Khwai River Lodge feature panoramic private decks. They’re the perfect theatre from which to enjoy the drama of the wild. After a day spent in the savannah, unwind in the tranquil pool or share stories by the fire. Want a massage on your private deck? All you have to do is ask.

Our safari accommodation lets nature come to you. Each lodge is surrounded by land teeming with life. Witness the elephants herding their young from your private elevated deck. Or revive at sundown in a private plunge pool––you might hear the call of slaty egret bidding each other goodnight.
