Lion Sands Game Reserve – Sabi Sand Game Reserve

Lion Sands Game Reserve comprises six unique and luxury lodges, set along the banks of the perennial Sabie River, each have breath-taking views – no one more inspiring than the next. Every day, the appearance of animals at the water’s edge presents you with a natural theatre.

Backed by luxury accommodation – where comforts, service, food and wine are equally well-considered – this is a safari in style, an African original.

That being said, each Lion Sands’ lodge has its own special allure. The one for you will depend entirely on who you are, and what you are looking for.

The reserve conserves 5 000ha (12 500ac) of a habitat that is home to the highest and most diverse concentration of wildlife in the southern hemisphere. You will see all of Africa’s iconic species – lion leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, and zebra – along with a supporting cast of no less intriguing 137 mammal species and over 450 varieties of bird. These safaris present an adventure that is wild, and then some.

River Lodge

River Lodge is the Eden of the More children’s youth and first Lion Sands lodge to welcome guests, who between visits have married, become parents, and returned with their children. She has a special magic, that could well come from the gigantic trees that protect her.

Narina Lodge

The lodge, like the Narina Trogon bird after which it is named, is astonishingly beautiful, yet blends unassumingly into the natural environment. Perched on stilts under a canopy of 100-year-old trees just up from the water, Narina Lodge offers you a wonderful sense of remoteness and peace.

Tinga Lodge

For the nostalgic, Tinga Lodge opens onto river frontage with a camp-style look that is reminiscent of the ‘Out of Africa’ era. But far from old-fashioned, a new energy has arrived with an approach to décor and hospitality that is perennially fashionable and classically charming.

Ivory Lodge

Ivory Lodge is for those in search of utter exclusivity. Just eight water-side Villas emerge from a riverscape that sees the passage of much of the reserve’s wildlife. From your bed, deck, private plunge pool, or indeed the guest spa, this is one of the best places to look in on Africa – uninterrupted.

Hi’Nkweni Villa

This stand-alone Villa off in the bush makes the Tinga experience exclusively yours. It’s spacious and secluded enough to do your own thing, but helping hands and a wilderness of experiences are never far off. The Villa is ideal for multigenerational families or groups of friends looking to relax and explore.

Fish Eagle Villa

Between a knot of jackalberry trees on the banks of the Sabie River, this beautiful two-bedroom Villa offers the ultimate in private luxury and personalised service. Here, everything is included – from your own pool and spa, to personal chef, field guide and game viewer vehicle.
